I do, but not in a "wear red white and blue" kinda way.

I am proud of this country, its culture, and what it stands for. I am proud of its history, its heritage and its resources. I am proud of the words that the founding father's put to paper, what it meant, and what it means today. i am proud to call myself an American, the great great grandchild of immigrants, first in my family to get an advanced degree.

I am not proud of the actions sometimes carried out in the name of this country. I am not proud of entity that our legislature has de-volved into. I am not proud of ethnocentrism and egotism that runs rampant in this country and this culture masked as patriotism.

I have read the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, The Gettysburg Address and the Federalist Papers. I know the meaning and the implications the words on those papers carry. I am a registered voter and I take that civic duty very seriously. I do my homework, I listen to the debates and I educate myself on the issues. I THINK before I pull the lever, I don't vote with my party, I vote with the information I learn when I look into the candidates.

So the short answer is yes...the long answer is...are you, really?

Tonight was the GA night out. We decided to meet at a local pub and have drinks and food together before I said goodbye tomorrow night.

I just figured out my place at ship, started to feel comfortable and talk to people...now I'm graduating...

I don't regret that I'm done, hell I'm about ready to dance in the streets. Just a bit bittersweet that I have to say goodbye to 3 kick ass co-workers that I get along with so well...

I am...

exhausted...too many days straight of work/homework/housework/etc

excited...I only have 5 more days of school until graduation (basically 2 weeks)

more excited...that next week is beltane

overwhelmed...I have a TON of stuff to get done in a very short period of time

anxious...I really need a job asap and I don't do the waiting thing very well

nervous...that we may be moving so far away...

contemplative...about where my path is taking me

worried...that moving my youngest away from her siblings/extended family/friends is a bad idea

curious...about living in a new area

scared...about so much right now

relieved...that my recent life decisions have been well received

sleepy...so I'm going to bed now...

You Are Dominant

You are an object of fascination for many. You shine brightly and boldly.

You can talk your way into - and out of - any situation you desire.

You move on to the next thing freely and without regrets. Life is about change.

You travel light. There's nothing worse than having too much baggage.

I had a fantastic time at the NCPH conference. I met very interesting people, heard great speakers, and learned tons. I'm VERY glad I went..and I'm even more glad that I'm home now. Reality check has been achieved and plan b,c,d, and e are in the planning stages. More on that later.

I have come the the realization that I have *TOO* much costuming for the amount of time I'm actually at events that welcome my fat ass in costume...So...I'm getting rid of a bunch...CHEAP

I have 2 belly dancing outfits that I'm getting rid of, set includes Top, bottom, Veil.... I paid a total of 70 per outfit, I'd like to get at least 40 per outfit, but make me an offer of what you think is fair...they have been worn one time (for fires of venus last year) Coin belts NOT included...if I need to ship it to you, realize that will cost about 10 dollars more than quoted price.

One Black with Gold Trim- Halter style beaded top, Black "mermaid" style skirt, "One size fits up to..." My 200lb ass fit it it just fine... Top is ideally for someone NOT with a 40D cup chest, but is fully adjustable.

One Royal Purple- Gold Coin covered bra style top, fully adjustable. Harem style pants "one size fits up to" NOT for someone over a size 14. Inseam mended due to missed fabric during construction. This outfit would be best suited for someone of medium build in the size 8-12 range.

I can post pictures if needed, but after LJ decides to stop being a complete TOOL...

I will have more to post, I just need to go through the collection more and decide what stays and what goes..

I think that it is the educational system's job to teach our children about health, biology, and science. Sex falls very much into those categories.

I also think it is the PARENT'S responsibility to teach their children about the other aspects of sex, the responsibilities that go with being sexually active, the emotional side of sex, and how sex falls into their chosen faith.

Sex is not a topic that can be explained by pure science, pure emotion, or pure spiritual terms. If we do not arm our children with ALL of these facts about their bodies and what they can AND WILL do with them, we are doing them a disservice and shirking our responsibilities.

I am home, the surgery went well.. I am tired, groggy and a bit weak on my feet. I am not in much pain, thanks to the percoset they gave me. I am under strict orders to take it easy for the next few days.

Thank you for all the love and support I've gotten, it means the world to me to have such amazing people in my life

I just found another job to apply for, this would not require us to leave York. Which makes me VERY happy. Its at a Baltimore Museum, doing work I would enjoy doing, and I have all the qualifications. So tomorrow I'll submit my resume and cross all my cross-able appendages.

For the first time in my master's program I have been assigned a required read that I not only enjoyed reading (ok maybe enjoyed is the wrong term...didn't dispise is more like it given the subject matter) but that has given me new perspective. It is the book "five points" by Tyler Anbinder.

I was looking forward to reading it because Gangs of New York is one of my FAVORITE movies. And i had hoped this book would provide interesting insight to the people in the movie (or at least more historical perspective). All I can say is WOW. I Thank the gods for living in the 21st century with running water, food, heat, and clean clothes. Compared to how these poor immigrants (who btw are ALL of our ancestors...not just ones that can prove direct descendant status... we all came from somewhere and that somewhere was probably no prettier than these folks had it) we live like royalty.

I look around at what we have and think how blessed we are that we have warm coats, shoes, more than on set of clothes, and that we can afford to feed our children and better ourselves. Our culture has come quite a ways in 100 years. But it also makes me wonder if these types of conditions and tenement hells still exist and we just don't know about them. And I know other countries in the world do live much like the immigrants did in new york. Mat on the dirt floor, barely enough food to eat, barely clothed and praying they get through winter.

Gives you perspective. It really does. So for that I'm thanking the universe for this reminder, and for all the gifts of modernity that we take for granted. For the US is really not all that removed from its ancestry...So be thankful you are here now, and that you have what you have. Which, as we were reminded by the news this morning, can all be swept away with an earthquake or wave of water...

Avoid the company "permanent general" or "the general" insurance company like the black death...not only are their prices for basic coverage 3X what other companies charge you, they are a NIGHTMARE to deal with...

I am now on call #4 to demand cancellation of the policy that was supposed to cancel on 2/27 that they billed me AFTER the date for and have thus far not refunded the fraudulent charges OR cancelled the policy...

I am now speaking to a supervisor's supervisor...If I have to make another demand for a refund or if they don't cancel the policy and bill me again, I'll be doing it through a lawyer...

I'm so pissed off I'm smiling...and that's NEVER a good sign...
