You are married under common law. However, filing the paperwork would avoid some downside risks.
In PA, people who are ordained by the Universal Life Church can perform weddings, hassle-free. All that's required is that they file the paperwork (signed marriage license) with the state. Ordination is free and can be done on-line at http://www.ulc.org.
